As part of an enormous list of changes coming to Valorant in Flavor 3, Riot is hit most of the game'due south flash abilities with various nerfs. This is function of an overarching try to "create a healthier step of abilities throughout a round," which includes changes to several other gameplay systems aside from flashes.

Flash abilities in Season iii of Valorant will lose ability in two specific ways. The first is through their effective duration: players who have been flashed volition regain their vision slightly sooner. To be clear, the overall elapsing of flash furnishings is non being changed; rather, the fadeout period at the cease has been shortened, which volition allow players to orient themselves slightly better after suffering a flash.

The 2d nerf to flashes comes through several changes to the ability economic system.

  • Signature abilities will no longer generate a free charge each round if the actor has at least one accuse available. Agents with wink abilities as their signature, such as Skye, will accept less freedom in how they employ them.
  • Alienation'southward Flashpoint will have fewer charges and cost more.
  • Phoenix'southward Curveball will cost more.
  • Yoru's Blindside will cost more.
  • Reyna'due south Leer will cost more; Leer is not a wink, only it has a flash-like effect.
  • Skye's Guiding Light will accept fewer charges and cost significantly more.

Riot'southward stated design for Valorant has always been to take gunplay as the key course of skill expression, with abilities there to enable and complement it, but never supersede it. However, in the game's current state a player who is proficient in their utilise of flash abilities can practically remove gun skill from the equation. This would explain why Flavor three of Valorant will hit flash abilities with such a sweeping nerf.
